The city of Novara rises in plain in proximity of the border with the Lombardy region.
Founded from the from Liguria ones and subsequently colonized from the Roman with the name of "Novaria"; of the going back period to the Roman Empire conserve the system urbano(il Decuman and the Thistle).
The more important public square than Novare is public square of the Republic; here we can admire buildings of remarkable artistic interest, like the Dome (realized between 1863 and 1869).
Of the original construction it remains the bell tower with going back coronamento to the 500.
To flank of the church we find the chiostro of the canonical one (constructed between the X and XII century), characterized from a square plant with porch; to the advanced plan the Lapidario Museum is prepared of the Canonical one.
The Baptistry has been realized in V the century and sopraelevato in X the century.
The Broletto is a complex of civil buildings of medioevale age, collected around to a wide courtyard. On the skillful side the Palace of the Walls to us (of the Xii-xiv century) formed from a corridor with settecentesco loggiato.
In a part of the building we find the Gallery of Modern Art, that it collects approximately 900 works of the Italian 1800's.
Following via Lombardic Pier it is reached the Basilica of S. Gaudenzio (constructed between 1577 and 1690): The bell tower is in baroque style and was realized in 1786. Between 1844 and 1888 came realized the high cupola 121 meters. On the left side of the church we find via Gaudenzio Ferrari, where it is possible to admire Faraggiana palace that it accommodates one collection of imbalsamati animals.
Finally in via of the Rimembranze the Historical Museum Novarese "Aldo Rossini" with exposures of crews is situated, uniforms, pictures and photographies from the First War of Independence to the Second World war.
